Ji-sung Park says former Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney will one day manage the Red Devils.

The South Korean’s comments came after the club confirmed on Sunday morning that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been sacked following a miserable 4-1 defeat to Watford.

Rooney, now boss at Derby County, is not enjoying a vintage season with the Rams, who have been docked 21 points in the Championship this season for entering into administration.

However, Park told football website Goal prior to Solskjaer’s sacking that he thinks Rooney is a future United boss in the making.

He said: “I believe Wayne can make it. He had great experiences from his very young age and he also had many difficult moments in his career that he overcame eventually... He has great leadership skills as well. So, I believe he can be United’s manager in the future.”
