The stunning Viktor Gyokeres alternatives Man United could sign - including Porto and Crystal Palace strikers
One position that Man United are set to improve in the summer is the striker spot, as the likes of Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee have struggled this season. The two have combined for just six goals in the Premier League.
United have been heavily linked to signing Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyokeres, who previously worked under Amorim when he was at the Portuguese club. The Sweden international has scored 28 goals in 25 league games this season.

With that in mind, here is a list of five potential names that could replace Gyokeres at United.
Victor Osimhen - Galatasaray (Loan from Napoli)
United have been linked with Osimhen for a long period now, alongside the likes of Chelsea, Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain. The Nigerian is set to return to Napoli in the summer, meaning that he will likely seek a transfer as he is surplus to requirements at the Italian club.
Osimhen has scored 26 goals in 30 games for Galatasaray this season and has very similar scoring numbers to Gyokeres over the past three seasons. He is expected to have a £62m release clause this summer, also similar to Gyokeres, who is expected to cost close to £70m. Reports emerged earlier in the month that Osimhen looks certain for a move to the Premier League, although, seeing as he is a Chelsea fan, it could be tough for United to tempt him away from Stamford Bridge.
Jonathan David - Lille FC
The second option is set to be the bargain of the summer window, as Lille striker Jonathan David is due to become a free agent with his contract at the French club expiring in the summer.

Hide AdDavid has been one of the best strikers in Europe this season, scoring 23 goals in 41 games, including seven goals in 10 games in the Champions League. The 25-year-old has been linked to countless teams including Man United, West Ham, Tottenham, Arsenal and Liverpool as he will be one of if not the most in-demand free agents this summer. He plays both with pace and strength, which could help to complement the creative play of the likes of Bruno Fernandes, Alejandro Garnacho and Zirkzee in the two number 10 positions alongside the striker in Amorim’s system.
Liam Delap - Ipswich Town
Ipswich striker Delap also looks set for a summer move, as the Tractor Boys are staring down the possibility of relegation back to the Championship, despite putting up a valiant fight this season under Kieran McKenna. The 22-year-old has made 31 appearances for Ipswich this season, scoring 10 goals, and he has emerged as one of the most exciting young English strikers, who could become the next Harry Kane in the England national team.
Chelsea are said to be very keen on Delap, but United have also been linked to him. Manchester City do have a buy-back clause in his contract at Ipswich, although they aren’t expected to pursue it, handing a green light for United to swoop in and sign the youngster. He is expected to cost around £30m, which for a striker with sky-high potential, is a comparable bargain - a much cheaper option to the likes of Gyokeres and Osimhen.
Jean-Philippe Mateta - Crystal Palace
Another Premier League striker who United have been linked to is Mateta from Crystal Palace, who has been one of the most in-form players in Europe since the start of 2025. The 27-year-old has scored 12 goals in 27 Premier League games this season.

Mateta is also very good in the air, and so could be a threat for United from set-pieces too. Palace aren’t reportedly keen on selling the Frenchman however, and it has been reported that they could put a £50m plus price tag on him. United got a great view of Mateta earlier in the year, as Oliver Glasner’s side came to Old Trafford and won 2-0 with the Frenchman netting both goals in superb fashion.
Samu Aghehowa - Porto
Finally, a striker with arguably more potential than any other on this list is Porto star Samu Aghehowa. Man United have been linked to signing the 20-year-old, who, much like Mateta, is more of an athletic striker, who has a blend of strength and pace.
He has scored 20 goals in 34 games for Porto this season, after joining from La Liga giants Atletico Madrid for a fee of £12.5m. He is set to cost a lot more this summer with a release clause set at £84 million. The likes of Arsenal, Chelsea and more are said to be interested in signing the 20-year-old. He arguably has the most upside of any striker on this list, but is not yet proven in one of the top five leagues in Europe, however, he does have experience this season in the Europa League, scoring six goals in nine games for Porto, including a brace that he scored against United in a 3-3 draw in October.
