Manchester United have been strongly linked with a summer move for Victor Osimhen amid the Red Devils’ struggles in front of goal this season. Ruben Amorim’s side exited the FA Cup on Sunday afternoon as they lost on penalties to Premier League rivals Fulham.
United remain in the Europa League as they look to chase down the one final piece of silverware available. The Red Devils sit 14th in the Premier League, with just 33 points from their 27 games this season. They have netted just 33 times in the league with only five clubs currently having a worse record in front of goal this term.

Bruno Fernandes is the club’s top scorer with 11 goals while Amad Diallo is second in the charts with nine despite missing the last few weeks with injury. Alejandro Garnacho has eight goals while Rasmus Hojlund and Marcus Rashford are both on seven, with the latter currently at Aston Villa on loan. Joshua Zirkzee has netted five times.
United weighing up swap deal with Napoli
Ruben Amorim’s side have been strongly linked with Victor Osimhen ahead of the summer. The Nigerian international is currently on loan at Turkish club Galatasary but is set to return to Naples at the end of the season. The Serie A side will then look to move him on permanently.
In a fresh update, Calciomercato have reported that United are ready to trade one of their current strikers as part of a possible deal to sign Osimhen. Zirkzee is ‘liked’ by the Italian outfit but Hojlund is viewed as a more realistic option as he is said to be out of Amorim’s plans for next season. Napoli sporting director Giovanni Manna is evaluating the possibility of using Hojlund as a makeweight to sign Osimhen but that swap will only happen if approved by Napoli boss Antonio Conte. Osimhen is set to be available for £62m in the summer although it is unclear if the Italian club would be happy with a straight swap or want a fee along with Hojlund.
United forked out £72m to Atalanta to sign Hojlund but he is unlikely to be valued anywhere near that figure after a tough season in front of goal. Napoli had eyed a move for Alejandro Garnacho in January but the two clubs could not agree on a fee. He has not been mentioned when it comes to looking at a potential summer swap.

This week United travel to Spain to face Real Sociedad in the first leg of their round of 16 Europa League tie. They then welcome Arsenal to Old Trafford in a Premier League fixture. Signing a new striker is one of the priority's for United in the summer as Amorim admitted his side are having issues in front of goal.
After the FA Cup exit against Fulham, he said: “No, we have a problem with goals. Today, we create situations, but even in the last game, sometimes you felt that just in set-pieces, we are going to make some danger. So, I think the first step is to create situations. Today, we create, but we have to improve that to help our forwards and strikers to score.”
