Manchester United make the journey south for this weekend’s Premier League encounter with Tottenham Hotspur.

The Red Devils are still reeling from Sunday’s humiliating 5-0 loss to Liverpool and will be hoping to put it right on Saturday in the 5.30pm kick-off.

The 20-time English champions are seventh in the table, eight points off league leaders Chelsea. The Red Devils have picked up just one point from their last four domestic games and desperately need a win against an inconsistent Spurs side.

The North London club are just one place and one point better off than Solskjaer’s side so far and lost against West Ham United last time in the league. They did, however, manage to progress to the quarter-finals of the League Cup on Wednesday courtesy of a 1-0 win over Burnley.

United have visited Tottenham’s new state-of-the-art stadium twice and are unbeaten there so far - in fact, they haven’t lost any of the last three games away to Spurs. Last season, Solskjaer’s men came from a goal behind at half-time to win the game 3-1, with Fred, Edinson Cavani and Mason Greenwood netting in the second period.

Raphael Varane and Anthony Martial could be in contention after the pair returned to training this week following recent injuries, although both will most likely not be involved.

However, their international colleague Paul Pogba is unavailable after the red card he received against Liverpool last time out.

After such a dismal run of results, Solskjaer could well look to freshen his side, especially given they travel to Atalanta in midweek. Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Harry Maguire, Luke Shaw, Fred and Cristiano Ronaldo are among those who have performed poorly of late and could be relegated to the bench at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

What’s the latest team news for Tottenham?

Hugo Lloris, Eric Dier and Sergio Reguilon were all rested in Wednesday’s win over Burnley, and should return to the side at the weekend.

Bryan Gil was replaced in the first period at Turf Moor and is a doubt for the visit of United. The only other concern for Spurs is Ryan Sessegnon, with the youngster missing through a knock.

Tottenham have tended to play in a 4-3-3 shape this season and are expected to line up in a similar manner on Saturday.

Predicted line-ups

Tottenham: Lloris; Emerson, Dier, Romero, Reguilon; Skipp, Hojbjerg, Ndombele; Lucas, Kane, Son.

Man United: De Gea; Wan-Bissaka, Maguire, Lindelof, Telles; McTominay, Matic; Lingard, Fernandes, Rashford; Cavani.
