Jadon Sancho's Man Utd exit will 'probably' be finalised today with only the finer details left to iron out, according to reports in Germany.

United have been in talks with Dortmund for the past few days as they look to offload Sancho. The 23-year-old has been absent from the first-team since September after accusing manager Erik ten Hag of lying about poor performances in training.

Sky Germany's Florian Plettenberg has reported that a 'total agreement' between United and Dortmund is now on the horizon. Sancho will return to the Bundesliga club on loan for the rest of the season.

United are expected to receive around £3.5million as part of the deal, which comes via a small loan fee and partial salary coverage. There is no suggestion there will be an option or obligation to make the move permanent in the summer.

Dortmund emerged as the clear front-runner for Sancho at the beginning of January, with the player keen on returning to his former club in a bid to regain form. Their CEO Hans Joachim Watzke provided an update on talks between his side and United earlier this week.

“We are in negotiations to sign Jadon Sancho, for sure," Watzke said. “We want to sign him on loan. That's no secret. But we are not yet ready to announce a done deal."

It was hoped that Sancho would join up with the Dortmund squad for their mid-season training camp in Marbella but that is set to end soon. They drew 2-2 in a friendly with AZ Alkmaar on Tuesday and return to Bundesliga action at Darmstadt on Saturday.

The deal could be announced later this week and Sancho will hope to rediscover the form that saw United spend £73million on him in July 2021. The former England international was never able to fulfil that price tag during his spell at Old Trafford, due in part to fitness issues.

Ten Hag sent the winger away for an individual training programme during last season's break for the Qatar World Cup and he was unavailable for more than three months. Sancho was left out of the squad to face Arsenal in September, with his manager citing poor training performances as a result.

Sancho responded to the claims on social media, insisting he was being made a scapegoat. His refusal to apologise saw the Dutchman expel him from first-team action and he has not played competitive football since August.
