Manchester United boss Marc Skinner praised the quality of both sides after seeing his team denied three points by an injury time strike which rescued a 2-2 draw for Arsenal.

It looked like United had grabbed all three points when Melvine Malard came off to bench to grab a debut goal in the 80th minute but Cloe Lacasse's 30-yard-drive deep in injury time to secure a late, late point for the Gunners. Earlier in the game Leah Galton had cancelled out Stina Blackstenius' early opener in a ding dong battle.

It was a tough one to take for the home side, but Skinner chose to see the positives, saying: "We've come a long way when Arsenal are celebrating like that at the end.

"The historic team of this league and they're celebrating like that at the end because they're happy they got a point at Manchester United and that is the level we've come to - long may that continue in other games. That's the level now - top levels, top teams and you'll see it with Manchester City and Chelsea this weekend - it might be different this season than it has been before" added the United boss.

He also singled out goalscorer Malard, who opened her United account immediately after coming onto the pitch, scoring with just her second touch.

The forward was brought in on a season long loan alongside Japanese midfielder Hinata Miyazawa and the duo combined within seconds to show the sold out home crowd exactly what they can bring to the table and Skinner admitted they can only can get better.

"People talk a lot about my rotation but the reality is when you've got the quality of those players to bring into the game you can start different systems once we get used to each other and we can play different ways" said Skinner.

The big games don't stop for Manchester United either, who face Paris Saint-Germain at Leigh Sports Village this Tuesday in the UEFA Women's Champions League qualifiers, kick off is scheduled for 8pm.
