On the move, Guerrero said: "I feel very happy and very privileged to be here. I am very proud to be part of the Manchester United family and look forward to achieving all our goals together."

The 26-year-old is just one of four possible incoming signings today with the club expecting a hectic day at Carrington that could see several moves both in and out of the club.

Manchester United are exploring a record breaking deal for OL Reign goalkeeping Phallon Tullis-Joyce, a loan move Lyon's Melvine Malard and a £150,000 deal for Everton and England defender Gabby George, which could be a huge boost for the club ahead of their season opener against Aston Villa next month.

"Irene is a world cup winner whose quality is an excellent addition to our team. The experience she brings, both domestically and internationally, will be key as we pursue success across the multiple competitions, we face this season. We are delighted to bring a player of Irene’s stature to Manchester United Women" said Skinner on Guerrero's move to the red side of Manchester.

There are also several outgoings also expected at United today and the club have confirmed the first of those with Brazilian midfielder Ivana Fuso joining English Championship side Birmingham City on a permanent deal.

The 22-year-old spent last season on loan with Bayer Leverkusen in the Frauen Bundesliga and has played a part in their pre-season warm up games but will depart to the Midlands in search of regular first team football. Fuso contract was due to expire at the end of the season with United.

Scottish forward Martha Thomas is another expected departure from Carrington today, with fellow WSL side Tottenham Hotspur expected to confirm her signing today.

Spurs were handed a blow earlier in the summer with confirmations that Bethany England required a hip operation that would rule her out for 'some time' - the signing of Thomas will offer them further options at the top end of the pitch.
