The Premier League table since Ruben Amorim took charge makes grim reading for Manchester United
Man Utd have managed to get even worse since Ruben Amorim replaced Erik ten Hag.
It has been a tough start to life at Manchester United for head coach Ruben Amorim. It is now exactly three months since his first match in charge away against Ipswich Town, the same team they face again this midweek.
Since he arrived, United have reached the fifth round of the FA Cup and secured a place in the knockout stages of the Europa League, but their form in the Premier League has not been so encouraging. Amorim has taken charge of 15 league matches so far and he has won just four of them.
Those victories came at home against Southampton, Leicester and Everton, with just one away league victory against Man City. What is most damning is they have only drawn another three, with eight Premier League defeats so far under their new head coach. It leaves them 15th in the top flight, but things are even worse if you look at the table in the period he has been in charge.
Premier League table since Ruben Amorim took charge
Manchester United have only won four of their 15 Premier League matches since Ruben Amorim took charge, so it is no surprise to see them languishing near the bottom of the table. It is a slight surprise to see just how low they are though.
United have taken 15 points out of a possible 45 under Amorim, a record that would place them 17th in the table during the period he has been in charge of the club. Only Southampton, Leicester and Ipswich have recorded fewer points than them during that spell. United have also struggled for goals under the new head coach and are the fifth-lowest scorer in the division over the last 15 matches. They have only netted more goals than the three teams below them in the table and West Ham, who would be 14th.
There is no denying the fact United are in relegation form, though they are saved by the fact there have been three far worse teams than them this season. Even during the last 15 matches, they have recorded six points more than Ipswich in 18th and ten more points than rock-bottom Southampton. United won't get relegated this season but in a more competitive campaign, they might have been dragged into a genuine fight for survival.
