Antony was sent off for loan club Real Betis on the same weekend a Manchester United teenager was backed for a first-team role under Ruben Amorim. United currently have 17 players out on loan for the remainder of the season and the majority of them played over the weekend for their respective clubs across Europe.
Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho went head-to-head in the Premier League, while there was another United clash in League Two when Accrington Stanley faced Doncaster Rovers. A United youngster scored their first senior goal with a wonderful effort from 30-yards and was later backed by the manager of his loan club to have a potential first-team role at Old Trafford.

Manchester United loan round-up
The obvious place to start is Villa Park, where Marcus Rashford shone for Aston Villa in their dramatic 2-1 comeback win over Chelsea. Jadon Sancho featured from the bench for the visitors but could only watch on as close friend Rashford twice set-up Marco Asensio to secure a precious three points.
Antony was the other United player to grab headlines as he was sent off for Real Betis in their 2-1 away win over Getafe. The Brazilian winger registered an assist as Isco opened the scoring but was shown a straight red for a wild lunge on Juan Iglesias in stoppage time.
Over in the EFL, Ethan Williams netted his first senior goal as Cheltenham Town won 3-0 away at Newport County. The 19-year-old took advantage of a goalkeeping error to lob the ball into an empty net from 30-yards, and after the game, manager Michael Flynn backed him for a future first-team role at Old Trafford. "If he carries on the way he is, he'd probably make an impact in Manchester United's first team at the minute," he said.

Rhys Bennett played 74 minutes as Fleetwood lost to Grimsby, Joe Hugill came off the bench in Carlisle's goalless draw with Gillingham and Sam Mather played for Tranmere Rovers in their 2-1 loss to Notts County. His fellow United loanee Louis Jackson did not feature in the match. Ethan Wheatley was not involved for Walsall in their 2-0 win over Morecambe and Jack Kingdon featured from the bench as Rochdale lost 4-0 to Barnet in the National League.
James Nolan was an unused subsitute as Inverness defeated Kelty Hearts and Tom Myles was not involved as Runcon Linnets defeated Chasetown. Radek Vitek played in goal as BW Linz lost to Sturm Graz, Dan Gore missed Rotherham's home defeat to Barnsley and Tyrell Malacia had a free weekend without a match for PSV.
