Manchester United are back in Premier League action this weekend

Manchester United-linked Chris Rigg has emerged on the radar of Everton and Birmingham City, according to journalist Alan Nixon on his Patreon. The youngster is expected to be a man in-demand ahead of the next couple of transfer windows.

As per HITC Sport, the Red Devils have been ‘closely’ tracking his progress in the Championship as they weigh up a potential move. The likes of Arsenal, Newcastle United and Borussia Dortmund have also been mentioned as possible suitors.

United could see Rigg, who is 17-years-old, as someone to boost their midfield department. He is being tipped for a bright future in the game and has become a key player for the Black Cats’ first-team already under manager Regis Le Bris.

The teenager has risen up through the academy ranks of his current club and was a regular for them at various different youth levels. He has made 33 appearances for their senior team already despite his tender age and has found the net on four occasions.

Sunderland have won five out of their first seven fixtures so far this term in the second tier and are eyeing promotion to the top flight. They will face a battle to keep hold of Rigg though down the line with the way things are going.

His teammate Luke O’Nien said last week: “He is unbelievable. Even in training some of the things he does are incredible. He is such a pleasure to watch. I am out of position half the time because I am just watching him. He is mesmerising. Chris has been one of our best players so far this season, but he is just doing what he does. The rest of the team are so happy for him.”

United may need to see off competition from elsewhere if they were to lure the player to Old Trafford. Fellow top flight side Everton and ambitious League One outfit Birmingham are the latest two names in the frame.

The latter have already forked out big money to land Jay Stansfield from Fulham and are eyeing more eye-catching signings. They were relegated earlier this year.
