Bayern Munich are reportedly interested in signing Scott McTominay from Manchester United.

Erik ten Hag is understood to be willing to allow the midfielder to leave before Friday’s transfer deadline, and the German champions could make a move in the coming days. According to Bild, Bayern would like to sign McTominay in either a permanent transfer or loan deal.

The outlet add it would cost between £35m and £40m to complete the signing of McTominay, a fee which could put Bayern off.

Yet a permanent deal would suit United, who need to generate funds if they are to complete any more major incoming moves. The Red Devils would like to add a midfielder, and have identified Sofyan Amrabat and Ryan Gravenberch as potential additions. The latter joined Bayern last year but has struggled for minutes, and Bild claim McTominay’s arrival at the Allianz Arena could see Gravenberch complete a loan move to United.

McTominay hasn’t started any of the club’s three matches so far this season, and has slowly slipped down the pecking order under Ten Hag. The youth-team graduate played 39 times last season and started six of the first seven league matches, but was selected from the off in just four of the remaining 31.

Meanwhile, United have also been linked with signing Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg from Tottenham Hotspur. The Danish international is reportedly available for around £35m, with the club opening talks over a possible switch.

It’s not clear whether Hojbjerg will complete a move to United, but Altay Bayindir is expected to arrive imminently from Turkish side Fenerbahce, with Dean Henderson set to join Crystal Palace. United are also in the hunt for a left-back following the injury to Luke Shaw last week.
