Manchester United are in talks to sign Tottenham Hotspur’s Pierre-Emile Hjojberg, according to reports.

The Red Devils are in the hunt for a new midfielder as Erik ten Hag continues to shape the squad to his liking. ManchesterWorld understand that Sofyan Amrabat and Ryan Gravenberch are high on Ten Hag’s list of targets, with the latter more likely to arrive on loan with an option to buy, while Amrabat’s transfer could be dependent on Scott McTominay leaving.

Yet Hojbjerg has emerged as a possible alternative, with the Telegraph claiming United have been offered the chance to sign the Danish international. Hojbjerg was close to signing for Atletico Madrid earlier this summer, and also is said to have turned down an offer from the Saudi Arabian Pro League.

The 28-year-old is a player Ten Hag knows well from his time at Bayern Munich, where the Dutchman managed Hojbjerg in the club’s second team.

Meanwhile, journalist Jacque Talbot has reported that talks have begun between United and the player over a £35m transfer from Spurs. Sky Sports also report that Tottenham are willing to let Hojbjerg leave if a suitable offer is received.

It is expected to be a busy end to the summer transfer market for the Red Devils and the club are hoping to bring in a goalkeeper, left-back and midfielder before the window shuts. United are confident of signing Altay Bayindir from Fenerbahce in the coming days, which would allow Dean Henderson to join Crystal Palace.

At left-back, an injury for Luke Shaw has forced United into the market, with the Red Devils linked with seven different defenders in the last few days.

Shaw’s absence adds to Tyrell Malacia’s injury, while Alex Telles and Brandon William were allowed to depart earlier this window. With no natural choice at left-back, Ten Hag was forced to select Diogo Dalot in that role on Saturday as United beat Nottingham Forest 3-2.
