Ruben Amorim names three things Manchester United 'must improve'

Ruben Amorim spoke to the press for the first time since he was appointed head coach of Man Utd.

Ruben Amorim believes Manchester United must improve their physical traits if they are to become a success under him, including their work rate and ability to keep possession.

Amorim spoke to the press for the first time since being named United head coach, with him set to take charge for the first time when they travel to face Ipswich Town this weekend.

The 39-year-old is expected to implement a new style of play during his time at Old Trafford, having used a high energy 3-4-3 approach during his time in Portugal, that focused a lot on pressing high and working hard to keep their shape when they are out of possession.

Speaking at his press conference on Friday afternoon, Amorim told reporters about what was required from the players under him: “In simple things, I think, if you want to speak about the team, I think we lose the ball too often, we have to be better at running back, I think that is clear to everyone and I think we have to be better on the details. We have to improve on the small things. In the small things, I think I can help a lot.”

He added: “I don’t know about repair but we have space to grow as a team, I think we have to improve in a lot of areas, the understanding of the game, it is a different way of playing and we are changing in the middle of the season. I think we have to improve the physical aspect of the team. I don’t know how long it will take, I know if you are in Manchester United you have to win games, so I will not tell you I need a lot of time. It is a great league, the strongest in the world and we have to improve a lot. We have to win games and then to win titles.”
