Ruben Amorim issues Marcus Rashford update after he missed fourth consecutive Manchester United match
Marcus Rashford did not feature for Man Utd as they lost to Wolves in the Premier League.
Ruben Amorim insists he is doing what is best for Manchester United after Marcus Rashford missed the Boxing Day defeat to Wolves. The 27-year-old was once again not included in the United matchday squad for the trip to Molineux, after he had also been omitted from recent clashes to Man City, Tottenham and Bournemouth.
Amorim has reiterated throughout recent weeks that Rashford's absence is down to 'selection' purposes rather than any disciplinary matter. The United forward recently admitted he was 'ready for a new challenge' after two decades playing for his boyhood club.
It remains to be seen what the future holds for Rashford as we approach the January transfer window and Amorim recently insisted United were better off with the 'big talent' in their side.
All eyes will be on Rashford once again when United host Newcastle in the Premier League on Monday night and ahead of the game the head coach was asked why he was overlooked once again. "It's always the same reason it's going to be," he said. “We have to be the same professionals, the same guys, winning or losing. Losing, I have to be stronger. I will continue with my idea until the end."
When asked whether Rashford had not shown anything difference since he was first omitted from the squad for the Manchester derby win earlier in the month, he added: "If he's not here, you can make your mind up. I just do what I think is the best for the team."
