Pundit names two unsung Man Utd heroes who went 'under the radar' vs West Ham

Alejandro Garnacho and Rasmus Hojlund got the goals for Manchester United but victory over West Ham was a team performance.

Former Liverpool midfielder Danny Murphy has heaped praise on full-back pair Luke Shaw and Diogo Dalot following Sunday's impressive 3-0 win at home to West Ham.

United enjoyed a second straight Premier League win and in far more comfortable fashion than last week's dramatic 4-3 victory at Wolves. Rasmus Hojlund opened the scoring with his fourth goal in as many games before Alejandro Garnacho's second-half brace ensured all three points would remain at Old Trafford.

Hojlund and Garnacho rightly grabbed the headlines but manager Erik ten Hag saw strong performances across the pitch from his players, with Shaw and Dalot both excellent on the flanks. And Murphy highlighted the pair for praise, insisting their energy is crucial to United's recent success.

“I always think United look more accomplished when Luke Shaw’s fit, he’s a super player, good going both ways, but Dalot has really impressed me as well,” Murphy told Match of the Day 2.“When they play at home especially, these two are really positive, and cause problems for the opposition wide men because they just keep going forward.

“Dalot likes getting in that midfield area. He’s got the freedom to do it from his manager, he’s got the confidence. We always see him bombing forward when he plays, whether he’s on the right or the left.

“Just relentless energy. They both look really fit and really hungry. Every time these two are fit and play, United look better going forward especially. There were other good performances. [Kobbie] Mainoo has been really good recently, and Casemiro is getting back to his best. But those two go under the radar a bit. I thought they were really good.”

Shaw has been excellent since coming back from a long-term injury that kept him out for more than three months late last year, missing only a handful of games since. Dalot has been almost ever-present this season, with only club captain Bruno Fernandes and goalkeeper Andre Onana playing more Premier League minutes.
