Marcus Rashford has been dubbed the ‘best player in the Premier League’ after his latest brace for Manchester United.

The England international netted twice for the Red Devils in their convincing win over Leicester City at Old Trafford on Sunday, and that took him to 14 goals in 24 Premier League appearances for the season. It’s also 10 goals in 10 Premier League games for Rashford, who has been one of the most effective forwards in Europe since the World Cup break came to an end.

United are certainly benefitting, moving to within five points of leaders Arsenal, though the leaders do have a game in hand to play. Crucially, the Red Devils have built up an eight-point gap over fifth place Newcastle United amid their superb run of form, though the Magpies also have a game still to play before they have caught up with the rest of the division.

United have received plenty of praise for their improved form, but Rashford is also being deservedly singled out, and TalkSPORT’s Darren Ambrose is the latest to be wowed by the forward’s form.

“He is the best player in the Premier League as we speak, and probably by a distance,” said Ambrose. “ On current form, he is unstoppable, he is unplayable, whatever superlative you want to use. He is sensational at the minute, and that goal record you mention since the World Cup is frightening.

“In terms of the best player in the world at the moment, he is in the conversation, he is in with a shout. Mbappe, of course, as you’ve said, is phenomenal as well, but just to be in the conversation after the year he had last year, to come back as strong as he has...Erik ten Hag needs a lot of praise for that as well, for the coaching. Some of the players just need the right coach. They seem to have the right coach.”

United supporters will be hoping the England international can keep up his excellent form in front of goal going into this Sunday’s Carabao Cup final against Newcastle United.
