Manchester United will travel to Carrow Road on Saturday to face Norwich City in the Premier League, with the Red Devils hoping to continue their undefeated run under interim manager Ralf Rangnick.

The match, which kicks-off at 5.30pm, will see United look to secure their second league win with the German at the helm, after beating Crystal Palace 1-0 last weekend. Rangnick has only been in the role for a short time and, with a team of rotational and youth players, oversaw the club’s  1-1 draw in their final Champions League group stage game against Young Boys on Wednesday.

Despite the result, there were some noticeable talking points from the match, including the return of Luke Shaw from concussion and Aaron Wan-Bissaka being stretchered off.

As for Norwich, they are without a win in their last three league games, losing most recently to Tottenham Hotspur and drawing with Newcastle United and Wolves.

The sides head into the clash 14 points apart in the Premier League, with the hosts bottom of the table in 20th-place, while United sit sixth. Overall the Red Devils have significantly more wins over their Norfolk opposition.

Of the 18 meetings in the Premier League, United have won 14 of them, while Norwich have only secured three victories and honours have been even once.

The last time these two teams met in the competition, it ended 4-0 to the Red Devils at Old Trafford in January last year. Marcus Rashford scored a double, while Anthony Martial and Mason Greenwood were also on the scoresheet. Their previous league meeting at Carrow Road saw United walk away 3-1 winners.

What’s the latest team news?

Wan-Bissaka and Shaw both returned for the Red Devils on Wednesday evening, with the former playing the full 90 minutes, while the latter was substituted just after the hour-mark. Their game-time means added competition for places with Diogo Dalot and Alex Telles, who have filled in for the pair while absent.

Nemanja Matic also secured 90 minutes under his belt against Young Boys. The Serb was named on the bench against Crystal Palace after missing the Arsenal match due to injury. He captained United and will be in contention for the game against Norwich.

The club has also confirmed that Martial will miss the game this weekend due to a knee injury, while Paul Pogba remains out.

Other noticeable absentees from previous matches are Edinson Cavani and Raphael Varane. A return date for the pair has not been confirmed.

Despite this, Rangnick has multiple options to choose from in midfield and attack with the German expected to revert to a more familiar starting XI on Saturday.

The 63-year-old does however have a selection headache on his hands when it comes to which full-back pairing he opts to start now both Wan-Bissaka and Shaw are fit. With the latter being replaced on the 61st-minute on Wednesday, it could suggest Rangnick may start the Englishman over Telles against Norwich.

When it comes to how the Red Devils will line-up, Rangnick set his side up against Palace in his favoured 4-2-2-2 formation with Scott McTominay partnering Fred in a centre-midfield, while Bruno Fernandes and Jadon Sancho played as two number 10s and Cristiano Ronaldo started up top with Marcus Rashford.

The hosts have several names on the sidelines with Mathias Normann, Milot Rashica and Christoph Zimmermann all missing the Tottenham defeat.

The latter’s unavailability means Dean Smith has the choice of starting a five-man defence as he did against Spurs or revert to a four-man backline which has seen him avoid defeat thus far.

However, one player who will not be able to feature on Saturday is Brandon Williams. The 21-year-old is ineligible due to being on loan from United.

Having experimented with a different formation and it not working out, expect Smith to return to a 4-1-4-1 layout against the Red Devils.
