Man Utd could sanction a major sale in the January transfer window as they look to raise precious funds.

Manchester United know they will have to sell before they can think about buying any players in the January transfer window as Ruben Amorim faces a difficult squad rebuilding challenge.

The Portuguese head coach has inherited an inadequate squad that isn't suitable for his demanding style of play, but only has very limited funds to reshape it in his own vision.

United will have to make at least one major sale next month if they are going to have any chance of making a permanent signing of their own, though there could be some good news with one star supposedly 'ready to leave' immediately.

UOLEsporte claim Casemiro could be the first high-profile exit of the January window, with the 32-year-old now open to the idea of leaving the club in favour of a move to Saudi Arabia. There has been continued interest from the Saudi Pro League in his signature, but the player has previously been unmoved by the thought of quitting European football.

However, after a poor start to the season and a diminished role under Amorim, it is suggested Casemiro would 'welcome' a transfer to Saudi football at the start of 2025 and that there are 'no major obstacles to his departure.'

The report adds 'the Saudi Arabian Sovereign Fund is determined to move forward with the signing of Casemiro now in the January transfer window.' It seems like the only possible option for the veteran midfielder due to his sizeable transfer valuation as well as his hefty wage demands. Al-Hilal and Al Nassr are the two clubs namechecked with a possible move in the report, which could see him reunite with former Real Madrid and United teammate Cristiano Ronaldo.
