Jamie Carragher slammed the lack of mobility from Manchester United’s players in their 2-0 defeat to Newcastle on Monday night.
Alexander Isak and Joelinton scored within the opening 20 minutes of the match to secure a well-deserved victory for Eddie Howe's side, though the score line could easily have been greater in favour of the visitors. The result means United have now lost four consecutive matches across all competitions and five of their last six in the Premier League alone.

Hide AdRuben Amorim had made four changes to his starting line up from the side that lost 2-0 to Wolves on Boxing Day but found himself turning to his bench after just 32 minutes when Joshua Zirkzee was hooked in favour of Kobbie Mainoo. The introduction of the extra midfielder gave United a greater presence in midfield, though it always felt inevitable an axis of experienced duo Christian Eriksen and Casemiro was going to struggle against one of the best midfields in Europe.
Speaking after the match, Carragher slammed the lack of mobility in the United side and in particular the static showing from the struggling Zirkzee. He told Sky Sports, "We knew tonight they would be on the front foot and I didn't think they would take a backward step as why would you? United have been awful, and you just looked at the lack of mobility and athleticism in their team - not just in Eriksen and Casemiro. Zirkzee can't run, he can't move. I just couldn't see anything other than Newcastle winning that game."
