Manchester United have until the end of the month to bring in new players

Manchester United turned to Ruben Amorim as their new manager earlier this winter. He was picked as their replacement for Erik ten Hag after catching the eye at Sporting Lisbon.

It has been a mixed start for the head coach at Old Trafford so far. He will be hoping for some more consistency over the coming weeks and months.

United are currently sat in 13th place in the Premier League table after 22 games. They have won seven and have 22 points on the board.

The Red Devils have the chance to sign some players before the end of the January transfer window. They can also sell some if they wish to.

Manchester United’s Rio Ferdinand in transfer call

Former United defender Rio Ferdinand has urged Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho to leave the club. The pair are both facing uncertain futures ahead of the deadline on Monday 3rd February and the latter has been linked with a £70m price tag.

He has said on TalkSPORT: “There’s no doubt in my mind that these players are better than what they are producing right now. But when the shirt feels so heavy it’s difficult to get out of the trenches sometimes. It’s normally not one person who can get you out of these types of situations but where are those individuals you need? I don’t see enough of them at the moment.

“The worrying thing is that these players are leaving and looking like they are spreading their wings and breathing again. (Scott) McTominay looks brilliant and look at (Anthony) Elanga at Nottingham Forest. Even (Jadon) Sancho looks like a different person at Chelsea.”

Ferdinand added: “If I’m sitting there and advising Rashford right now I’m saying ‘just go’. You should look at McTominay and say that’s what I want to follow.“He’s enjoying life, he's enjoying his football again. Marcus Rashford’s face tells you he hasn’t enjoyed football for the last three years.

“I want to see these kids smiling, I love the young kids coming through and playing well. Garnacho is probably sitting there thinking, this is Man United. I don’t want to leave but (if I do) I might start enjoying myself a bit more.”

What now for Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho at Manchester United?

United have a big decision to make on both of the player’s situations. Rashford has been frozen out by Amorim and an exit for him seems to suit all parties involved.

He has risen up through the academy ranks of his current club and has been a key player over recent years. However, his time with the North West giants has turned stale now.

As for Garnacho, selling the 20-year-old may well come back to haunt the Red Devils down the line. He still has a bright future ahead of him and has bags of potential.

Letting both go without replacements would also be a massive risk by United. They need to ensure that they have got some top quality players lined up if they were to head out the exit door.
