Man Utd are set to sanction another loan exit on deadline day of the January window.

Tyrell Malacia is set to seal a loan exit from Manchester United on deadline day of the January transfer window. The 25-year-old has been deemed surplus to requirements at Old Trafford following the signing of fellow full-back Patrick Dorgu from Lecce.

Malacia was poised to join Portuguese club Benfica over the weekend, but a move collapsed over their refusal to pay United’s demands for a loan fee. The Dutch defender was left out of the United squad for their home defeat to Crystal Palace after he had already said goodbye to his teammates at Carrington.

It looks like Malacia will still leave United before tonight’s deadline though, with a medical booked for his proposed move to PSV Eindhoven. Fabrizio Romano claims a deal is ‘close’ though there is still work to be done before Malacia can be considered a PSV player.

Surplus to requirements

Malacia has struggled for regular playing time under Ruben Amorim and has not started in the Premier League since the home defeat to Bournemouth in December. The former Feyenoord defender, who became Erik ten Hag's first signing at the club, fell further down the pecking order following the arrival of Dorgu, as well as the imminent return to action for Luke Shaw.

As well as a deal for Dorgu, United have already agreed a deal that will see teenage full-back Diego Leon join the club in the summer transfer window. Even if he leaves on loan this month, Malacia will be available for a permanent deal at the end of the season.
