Hide AdLacey was always expected to sign a new deal after his 17th birthday and is understood to have signed a five-year contract that will keep him at the club until 2029 at the very least.
Taking to social media after the deal was complete, Lacey wrote: “Proud moment for me and my family signing my first professional contract at this club.”
After an extensive injury lay-off, Lacey trained with the first-team for the first time last week and returned to action at the weekend as a substitute in the U18s 4-2 win over Stoke City.
The 17-year-old could celebrate his return in style with a league title to match. United will be confirmed as U18 Premier League champions if they defeat Wolves on Tuesday afternoon.
Lacey is one of a number of teenagers who could be given a chance in the first weeks of pre-season when many senior players are away at the European Championship in Germany.
