Manchester United updated transfer plans after Matheus Cunha deal confirmed
Manchester United are still working on a deal to sign Bryan Mbeumo after they unveiled Matheus Cunha as their first signing of the summer transfer window.
United reached an agreement to sign Cunha from Wolves for his £62.5 million release clause earlier in the month, but had to wait for a visa to be granted before they could complete the deal. The 26-year-old was officially announced as a new signing on Thursday afternoon, with the focus now on adding further attacking talent to their squad.

Hide AdRuben Amorim wants to add another attacking midfielder and a striker to his side this summer, with a move for Mbeumo independent of Cunha's arrival. There is a desire to add players who are already proven in the Premier League this summer, as Amorim looks to improve the overall fitness and athleticism of his side ahead of a campaign in which they will only play domestic matches.
Manchester United latest transfer plans
Manchester United are yet to make a second bid for Bryan Mbeumo after they saw their opening offer rejected by Brentford earlier in the month. United made an offer of £45 million plus an additional £10m in add-ons, though the London club are holding out for a base fee closer to the £62.5m that will be paid for Cunha.
There is still hope an agreement can be found between the two parties, with Mbeumo understood to prefer a move to Old Trafford over Arsenal, Newcastle or Tottenham. United are still relaxed about the situation and will soon present a revised bid to Brentford in the hope they can reach a breakthrough. They are adamant they will not overpay for the playmaker and also have little interest in protracted talks for his signature, so could consider other options if there is little compromise over a deal, with Eberechi Eze another who is of interest.
Ruben Amorim has also prioritised the addition of a proven goal scorer, with United back to the drawing board after they missed out on preferred option Liam Delap. The 22-year-old was viewed as the best value for money option this summer and they will have to spend a lot more if they want to sign an elite option like Viktor Gyokeres. United hold an interest in the Sweden international but are currently just keeping tabs on his situation as Sporting hold out for the highest fee possible. Victor Osimhen is another option but he would have to lower his wage demands if he was to have any chance of a move to Manchester. It is understood United have also been made aware Paris Saint-Germain striker Goncalo Ramos is available for transfer, with the Portuguese star eager to play regularly ahead of next summer's World Cup.

Hide AdAmorim would like to add a central midfielder to his squad this summer, but the budget is expected to be limited in that department. Sunderland starlet Chris Rigg is still of interest, though the Black Cats have no interest in selling him after their promotion to the Premier League, having already sold Jobe Bellingham to Borussia Dortmund. United have also kept tabs on Middlesbrough ace Hayden Hackney, who could be a low-cost solution, while Leicester star Wilfred Ndidi has a £9m relegation release clause in his current deal.
There is also a desire to add a wing-back to the squad this summer, with Brighton star Pervis Estupinan open to a summer move, though the South Coast club have not given any indication of how much he could cost. It is also important to note, Mbeumo is seen as a player who could play at right wing-back if required, though United are still short of options on the left.
In terms of the goalkeeper department, United are keeping tabs on numerous options, but the calibre of player they sign would depend on whether it is Andre Onana or Altay Bayindir who leaves the club this summer. In the long-term, Amorim would like a new number one, though Onana could be given another season to redeem himself given priorities lie elsewhere.
