Man Utd hope to add a forward to their squad before deadline day of the January window.

Manchester United have been handed a potential boost in their pursuit of a forward in the January transfer window.

United are set to make Patrick Dorgu their first senior signing under Ruben Amorim, though the head coach also wants to add a forward to his side before the transfer deadline next week. They are keeping their options open ahead of a busy final few days of the window, and could make a move for any target who suddenly becomes available.

Bayern Munich forward Mathys Tel is one of those who could be available for transfer and United are reportedly in a strong position to sign him. A report claims the 19-year-old forward 'wants to join United' before deadline day and favours a move to Old Trafford over one to Tottenham.

A further report from The Mirror says as many as ten club are exploring a deal for Tel, who will seek assurances over playing time before committing to any Premier League move. The report adds Bayern are unlikely to sanction the player's departure without securing a replacement as they had planned to keep hold of the teenager this month. The report states United have also been earmarked as a possible destination for Tel but that's only likely to be viable if Bayern would be willing to sanction an initial loan.

Tel has failed to score a goal in 13 appearances for Bayern this season and has struggled for game time since Vincent Kompany took charge. The German giants agreed to pay Rennes a possible €28.5 million for the teenager back in 2022, as they won the race for the forward dubbed 'mini-Mbappe.'

United are in the market for a forward this window but might need to sell either Alejandro Garnacho or Marcus Rashford in order to finance a deal. Amorim’s preference is to sell Rashford this month, though there is an acceptance few clubs can match his wage demands as well as offer a transfer fee. It leaves United in an unfortunate position where they’d rather keep Garnacho but accept he could be sold in order to ease their tight financial situation.
