Man Utd are set to announce the signing of teenage wonderkid Chido Obi-Martin.

Manchester United are still on course to announce the signing of teenage wonderkid Chido Obi-Martin as they await Premier League ratification on his move.

United won the fierce race to sign the 16-year-old after his Arsenal contract expired in the summer, but have to wait for the deal to be approved by the authorities before it can formally be announced.

A source close to the transfer reiterated they are 'not expecting any issues' with Obi-Martin's transfer to the club despite a recent report suggesting it might go before a court to be resolved. Arsenal will be owed a compensation package for their development of the teenage striker.

It usually takes roughly six weeks for youth transfers between two Category One clubs to be processed. United agreed a deal to sign the teenager at the start of August, so it would be no surprise if his arrival wasn't confirmed until mid-September at the earliest.

United supporters are waiting patiently to see their new wonderkid in action and ahead of his move to Old Trafford, his national team boss, Morten Eskesen, has told fans what they should expect.

“I spoke to him last week and asked him if he was fit for the fight and injury free. He was, and he is in between jobs," Denmark U18 boss Eskesen told Tipsbladet. “Right now he doesn’t have a club, but it’s only a matter of time. After all, a lot happens in the transfer window. We know what he stands for.

“His greatest competence is that he scores many goals. If you saw some of the goals at the European Championships… he’s a really good finisher and positionally good, so he gets free for that. He is also good man-to-man. He is good at running in depth in relation to getting into free positions. His finishing skills are what allow him to score so many goals.”

Obi-Martin scored 32 times in just 18 games for Arsenal U18s last season, and made headlines when he scored 10 goals in one match for the U16s against Liverpool, albeit the Merseyside club had an outfield player in goal.
