Manchester United star not spotted in Crystal Palace squad after failed transfer exit

Tyrell Malacia was not spotted in the Manchester United squad that arrived to face Crystal Palace in the Premier League after his failed transfer exit in the January window.
United are set to announce the signing of Lecce defender Patrick Dorgu this weekend, with his arrival set to make Malacia surplus to requirements at Old Trafford. The Dutch defender will be allowed to leave before the transfer deadline, just as teammate Antony did when he sealed a loan move to Real Betis.

Hide AdMalacia has been in talks over a potential loan switch over the past few days, though it has been reported that a move has now fallen through, casting his immediate future into doubt. United remain open to sanctioning a loan exit, though time is running out for him to find a new club before Monday's deadline.
Transfer exit has stalled
As reported by The Athletic over the weekend, Malacia’s proposed loan move to Benfica has stalled and is not expected to go through. It was reported the full-back was ready to join the Portuguese club, but he did not end up travelling for a medical on Saturday after they refused to meet United’s loan valuation. United still hope to sanction a different loan exit for the defender.
Malacia has struggled for regular playing time under Ruben Amorim and has not started in the Premier League since the home defeat to Bournemouth in December. The former Feyenoord defender, who became Erik ten Hag's first signing at the club, will fall further down the pecking order amid the imminent arrival of Dorgu as well as the return to action for Luke Shaw.
As well as a deal for Dorgu, United have already agreed a deal that will see teenage full-back Diego Leon join the club in the summer transfer window. Even if he does not leave on loan this window, Malacia will be available for a permanent deal at the end of the season.
