Manchester United interim manager Ralf Rangnick is targeting Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger this summer, according to reports.

The centre-back’s contract with the Blues expires at the end of the season and he would be available to sign for free once it ends.

According to the Mirror, Rangnick is not ‘convinced’ by Red Devils duo Harry Maguire and Raphael Varane, thus his interest in Rudiger.

United’s defence have conceded the joint-second most goals (34) of the current top 10 clubs in the Premier League, with only Southampton (37) letting in more.

Rudiger has been a pivotal part of Chelsea’s squad since his arrival from AS Roma for an initial £29m in 2017.

During his time at Stamford Bridge he has made 185 appearances, scoring 10 goals and assisting his teammates on seven occasions.

The 28-year-old has also won several major trophies while with the west London club, including last season’s Champions League.

Elsewhere, the Red Devils have been told the price they will have to pay RB Leipzig for Christopher Nkunku’s signature this summer.

As per Bild, United have been informed they will have to pay £62.5m for the midfielder if they want to bring him to Old Trafford next season.

The German site adds Paris Saint-Germain are also interested in the Frenchman, who has featured 34 times for Leipzig this campaign, netting 22 goals and 13 assists.

Nkunku is no stranger to Red Devils’ manager Ralf Rangnick, with the latter signing the midfielder for Leipzig as his last act as sporting director of the club in 2019.
