Manchester United injury news and return dates with five players set to miss Newcastle match

The confirmed Man Utd team news and injury latest ahead of the Premier League fixture with Newcastle United.

Manchester United are set to be without five senior stars when they host Newcastle United in the Premier League on Monday night.

Ruben Amorim will hope to see his side bounce back from a third successive defeat as they look to end the calendar year on a high, though he knows they will have to do it without a handful of important players.

United still have three players side lined through injury issues, while two star midfielders are certain to miss the match through suspension as well. Here is the latest team news ahead of the clash Old Trafford clash:

Luke Shaw - 12 January vs Arsenal (A)

Shaw was only ruled out for a 'few weeks' with a hamstring issue but is yet to be pictured in any training imagery. It was hoped he would return to action by the end of the year but that looks highly unlikely now.

Mason Mount - 26 January vs Fulham (A)

Mount was initially ruled out for 'several weeks' though that was pending further assessment. He will return in January at the earliest but United won't want to rush him back after such a setback.

Victor Lindelof - Unknown

Lindelof looked devastated when he was forced off during the defeat to Tottenham last week. There has been no further update issued on his situation by the club.

Bruno Fernandes - 5 January vs Liverpool (A)

Fernandes was sent off against Wolves and will serve a one-match suspension for the Newcastle match. He should be back in the starting line up at Anfield.

Manuel Ugarte - 5 January vs Liverpool (A)

Ugarte will also serve a one-match suspension for accumulation after he was booked in the Wolves defeat. He should also return against Liverpool early next year.
