Man Utd are back in action when they travel to face Real Sociedad in the Europa League on Thursday night.

Manchester United have been handed a fresh double injury blow ahead of their trip to face Real Sociedad in the Europa League on Thursday night. Ruben Amorim's side know they must win the Europa League to have any chance of playing in Europe next season but face a tough test without two key players.

Manuel Ugarte and Harry Maguire are both expected to miss the first leg of the round of 16 tie after they picked up 'minor issues' in the wake of the FA Cup shootout defeat to Fulham. The duo did not take part in training on Wednesday morning and are not expected to be on the plane for the trip to Spain later in the day.

It means Amorim could be without 11 senior players for the first leg encounter, though there was some good news as midfielder Toby Collyer took part in the session after his recent injury absence.

Manchester United training squad vs Real Sociedad

Manchester United are set to be without both Ugarte and Maguire for their first leg against Real Sociedad, while Toby Collyer should be available after he trained with the first team on Wednesday morning. The 21-year-old has not featured for United since they defeated FCSB back in January.

The injury shortage meant youngsters Jaydan Kamason, Jack Fletcher, Harry Amass, Jack Moorhouse and James Scanlon all took part in the first-team training session and are in line to travel to Spain later today. United can name a 23-man matchday squad against Real Sociedad but only named an 18-man squad against Fulham last weekend.

Patrick Dorgu will be available for selection as his three-match suspension only impacts domestic matches, though teenage striker Chido Obi is not eligible to feature in the Europa League for the rest of the season. Obi was not named on United’s revised squad list last month because he was not viewed as a first-team player at the time, though Fletcher was added.
