Manchester United are lining up a replacement for Dean Henderson this summer.

Manchester United have been offered the chance to sign free agent Thomas Strakosha as a potential replacement for Dean Henderson, according to the Daily Mail.

Henderson secured his sixth loan move away from Old Trafford earlier this month as he joined newly promoted Nottingham Forest, leaving the Red Devils with only David de Gea and Tom Heaton in between the sticks.

With Erik ten Hag now on the look out for another back-up option, Strakosha looks like he could now be on his way to the Premier League.

The 27-year-old’s contract with Lazio expired last month and he is now eager to find a new club, having previously been in talks with both Fulham and Chelsea.

However, despite interest from the London clubs, it is believed that United are the closest to securing a deal for the Albanian.

The Red Devils have only brought in one new signing in Tyrell Malacia so far, in what is likely to be the summer of a major rebuild under their new manager.

Who is Thomas Strakosha?

Thomas Strakosha joined Lazio’s academy in 2012 and went onto make his senior debut four years later.

The goalkeeper has spent his whole professional career in Rome, making over 200 appearances for the Serie A club.

Strakosha was previously named as the best young goalkeeper of the 2017-18 season and helped his side to two Coppa Italia trophies and victory in the Supercoppa Italiana twice.

The Greece-born footballer’s immediate impact for Lazio saw him earn his first Albania cap six months after making his club debut and he has since made another 18 appearances for his country.

The increasing Premier League interest in Strakosha comes well earned, with former Lazio assistant coach Alberto Bollini previously praising his ‘extraordinary athleticism’.
