Manchester United ‘contacted’ by Lewandowski’s representatives as Bayern Munich plan Haaland move

Manchester United are among several Premier League clubs who have reportedly been contacted by representatives of Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski.

The 33-year old could be set to leave the German giants after eight seasons with Bayern looking to bring in Norwegian superstar Erling Haaland from league rivals Borussia Dortmund.

Football news site 90min are reporting that Lewandowski has “concrete interest from a number of Premier League clubs” ahead of the summer transfer window.

Meanwhile, it is also said that the 128 capped Polish striker is “open to anything” regarding his future.

According to 90min, Bayern Munich are planning a move for Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Haaland which could spell the end for Robert Lewandowski’s illustrious spell at the Allianz Stadium.

The 33-year old has scored 231 goals in 243 first team games for Bayern and won seven consecutive Bundesliga titles as well as three DFB-Pokal and the 2019-20 Champions League.

His trophy haul extends well beyond that and the forward has picked up numerous individual awards including the Ballon d'Or Striker of the Year, European Golden Shoe and Best FIFA Men’s Player all in 2021.

It is reported that forward “has concrete interest from a number of Premier League clubs ahead of the summer transfer window” and “Manchester United are among the teams to have been contacted by Lewandowski’s representatives.”

Interim Red Devils head coach Ralf Rangnick is on record with his admiration for the Polish striker, having previously said: “Robert has been one of the best, if not the best, central strikers in Germany. For sure, in Germany and also in Europe.”

Although United are the club most prominently being linked with Lewandowski, it’s actually their neighbours Manchester City who are the bookmakers favourite to sign the player in the summer.

SkyBet have a market on the striker to sign for a new club before September 3 and it’s Pep Guardiola’s side who lead the betting.

It’s 5/1 for the 33-year old to move to the Etihad while Paris Saint-Germain are second favourites for his signature at 6/1.

Arsenal, who are very much expected to be looking to recruit a new striker following Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s move to Barceloan in January, are third favourites at 8/1 while United are on the same price as Chelsea at 12/1.

Barcelona themselves are priced at 16/1 to sign Lewandowski.

In other news, Anthony Martial wont be staying at Sevilla when his loan deal from Manchester United expires in the summer.

That’s according to FootballTransfers, who value the player at €47m and claim that figure is “unattainable” for the Spanish side.

The Frenchman has made four appearances for Sevilla since joining them in January and scored one goal which came against Dynamo Zagreb in the UEFA Europa League last month.
