Hojlund starts, Shaw and Mainoo back: Manchester United confirmed starting line up vs Man City
The confirmed Man Utd starting XI to face Manchester City in the Premier League.
Manchester United have made two changes to their starting line up to face Man City in the Premier League fixture on Sunday afternoon. Ruben Amorim has already tasted victory twice against Pep Guardiola this season and will hope to make it third time lucky at Old Trafford today.
United have made two changes to their side from the midweek defeat to Nottingham Forest, with Rasmus Hojlund selected in place of Joshua Zirkzee and Harry Maguire picked ahead of the injured Matthijs de Ligt. Luke Shaw is back on the United bench for the first time in four months, with Harry Amass, Godwill Kukonki and Chido Obi named on the bench.
In terms of City team news, Kevin de Bruyne captains the squad in what will be his final Manchester derby, in a midfield that also includes Ilkay Gundogan and Mateo Kovacic. Omar Marmoush leads the line in what will be his first taste of the fixture.
Injured duo back on the bench
Manchester United have named two changes to their starting line up to face Man City, while there is a double fitness boost with Luke Shaw and Kobbie Mainoo both back on the bench.
Shaw has not featured for United since the 4-0 victory over Everton on 1 December and last started a game for his club in February 2024. The 29-year-old has only made three substitute appearances this season after an injury-ravaged campaign. He briefly returned to first-team training in January before he suffered a fresh setback that left him sidelined for the best part of three months.
Mainoo is also back on the bench after he suffered a muscle injury in the 2-0 home defeat to Crystal Palace two months ago. The 19-year-old scored against City in the FA Cup final a year ago and will hope to mark his return to action with another goal to go with it.
