Manchester United confirmed squad members vs Man City as star returns after four months out
The confirmed Man Utd squad members to face Manchester City in the Premier League.
Luke Shaw is back in the Manchester United squad for their derby clash against Man City on Sunday afternoon. The 29-year-old has not featured for United since the 4-0 victory over Everton on 1 December and last started a game for his club in February 2024.
Shaw has only made three substitute appearances this season after an injury-ravaged campaign. He briefly returned to first-team training in January before he suffered a fresh setback that left him sidelined for the best part of three months.
The left-back is expected to be on the bench when United face Man City this afternoon and was spotted arriving at Old Trafford with other members of the senior squad shortly before 12:45 pm. Patrick Dorgu is set to be named at left wing-back in the starting line up, with Diogo Dalot at right wing-back.
Matthijs de Ligt is expected to miss the Manchester derby after he was not pictured arriving at Old Trafford with the rest of the first-team squad. The Dutchman was labelled a doubt for the clash by Ruben Amorim and is set to be replaced in the match day squad by teenage defender Godwill Kukonki.
Fellow academy star Harry Amass was also pictured in the squad, though teenage striker Chido Obi was not seen at the party that arrived at the stadium. There was another injury boost for Amorim, though, with Kobbie Mainoo fit enough to be named in the match-day squad. He has not played since February but is expected to be named on the bench against City.
