The agreement, which is the largest front-of-shirt partnership in world sport, will see the Snapdragon brand displayed on all of United's kits for the forthcoming season, including the home shirt which was officially launched on Monday.

United's agreement with Snapdragon is a three-year initial term with option to extend by two years. Although no official figures were disclosed by the club, it is understood the sponsorship deal is worth somewhere in the region of $75m per year. The high-profile deal is another significant boost to United at a time when Financial Fair Play regulations and the Premier League's Profit and Sustainability Rules are so apparent.

United confirmed the deal in a launch video that featured club legends Eric Cantona and Sir Alex Ferguson showcasing the power of Snapdragon products, with the duo taking a selfie together on the Old Trafford pitch.

Speaking after the official announcement, United chief executive Jean-Claude Blanc said: “The launch of our new home kit is an exciting moment before the start of every season and especially so this year as we welcome Snapdragon as our new principal shirt partner.

“While the shirt will be the most visible symbol of our collaboration, we are looking forward to using Snapdragon’s processors to enable ground-breaking experiences for fans across the globe, deepening their engagement with the football club they love.

“We always strive to push boundaries of what’s possible and we are excited to be partnering with a company at the forefront of innovation.”
