Manchester United take on Liverpool on Monday evening with Erik ten Hag’s side looking to bounce back from their opening two defeats in the Premier League.

The Red Devils faced Jurgen Klopp’s men in their first pre-season friendly in July and came away with a comfortable 4-0 win.

However, when it comes to league fixtures against the Reds, United have struggled since Sir Alex Ferguson’s departure, failing to beat the Merseyside club in their last eight attempts.

Last campaign saw a season to forget for the Red Devils. They finished sixth in the table with 58 points, their lowest in the competition’s history, while also conceding nine goals against Liverpool over both games.

The United faithful will be hoping their campaign gets back on track at Old Trafford on Monday with a win over Klopp’s side, who are also without a victory so far.

Despite their recent poor form when facing Liverpool, there have been some memorable results for the Red Devils against the Merseyside club since Ferguson retired in 2013.

Manchester United 3-0 Liverpool | 14 December, 2014

This was arguably United’s best result against Liverpool in the league in the post-Ferguson era.

A starting XI that didn’t feature the club’s strongest players, a clean sheet after a masterclass performance from David de Gea between the sticks and three well-worked team goals saw the Red Devils smash their rivals at Old Trafford.
