Man Utd vs Newcastle : Teams announced for Carabao Cup final

Marcus Rashford has been named in Manchester United’s starting XI for Sunday’s Carabao Cup final against Newcastle United.

The attacker had been a doubt ahead of the game with Erik ten Hag admitting on Friday that he was unsure if the in-form Rashford would be fit. But is selection is a huge boost for the Red Devils at Wembley.

There are two changes to the United team from the one which started against Barcelona, with Diogo Dalot and Antony coming in to replace Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Jadon Sancho.

It means United line up with a back four of Dalot, Raphael Varane, Lisandro Martinez and Luke Shaw ahead of David de Gea. In midfield it’s Casemiro and Fred, with Antony, Bruno Fernandes, Rashford and Wout Weghorst in the offensive areas. Wan-Bissaka and Sancho are joined on the bench by the likes of Harry Maguire, Scott McTominay, Marcel Sabitzer and Alejandro Garnacho.

As for Newcastle, Lloris Karius starts with Nick Pope suspended and back-up goalkeeper Martin Dubravka cup-tied for the final. Joe Willock has also not been passed fit to play from the off but has been named among the substitutes. Eddie Howe has also opted to start with Callum Wilson up front instead of Alexander Isak.

United: De Gea; Dalot, Varane, Martinez, Shaw; Casemiro, Fred; Antony, Fernandes, Rashford; Weghorst.
