Manchester United will be without at least four players for Sunday’s Premier League clash against Leicester City. The Red Devils could move to within two points of the top of the table with a win, although they’d need Arsenal and Manchester City to slip up against Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest respectively on Saturday.

The clash with Leicester comes in between the Europa League double header against Barcelona, meaning the Foxes’ visit on Sunday could be somewhat overshadowed and result in a number of changes.

One man who is certain to drop out of the team is Casemiro. The midfielder will serve the final match of his three-game Premier League suspension this weekend, but played at the Nou Camp on Thursday.

Meanwhile, long-term absentees Christian Eriksen and Donny van de Beek are out, while Anthony Martial is not expected to return in time for the Leicester match. But Erik ten Hag may be able to call upon Scott McTominay and Antony once again.

Speaking on Wednesday, the Dutchman revealed they are closing in on a return to training. “It looks good. I think they are on their way back,” he said. “They are coming back on the training ground, individually at the end of the week. Maybe Scott can make the team, then next week, maybe Antony. We have to see his progress.”

Lisandro Martinez and Marcel Sabitzer are also options for the Red Devils after they missed the midweek trip to Barcelona through suspension.

Meanwhile, Leicester will have Youri Tielemans and Boubakary Soumare available once again, Brendan Rodgers confirmed in his pre-match press conference. "Both are good," said the Northern Irishman. "Bouba’s trained all week. Youri is back in training too, so both are available for the game. Everyone’s clearing up now. The squad’s looking strong."

There was also concern that James Maddison was going to miss the journey to Manchester with a knock, but Rodgers confirmed he is fit, while former United man Jonny Evans remains out with a leg problem.

"James is fine," the Leicester boss said. "He’s trained well. [Evans is] still a bit of time away. We were hoping he’d be back but he’s still struggling a wee bit with his thigh."

James Justin remains out with a long-term problem while Ryan Bertrand continues to build up his fitness after a lengthy injury.

Doubts: McTominay, Antony (United)

Ruled out: Evans, Justin, Bertrand (Leicester) Casemiro, Eriksen, Van de Beek, Martial (United)
