The Glazers have been pondering over whether they want to complete a full sale, unsure whether they want to stay involved in the club in the face of bid from outside parties.
With the situation taking another fresh twist on Wednesday, we have rounded up all the latest news over a possible takeover at United.
Jassim’s bid and deadline
Sky Sports are reporting that Qatar’s Sheikh Jassim has now submitted a fifth and improved bid to buy United.

Hide AdJassim is said to have improved his previous bid, but he still wants 100% of the club, and his camp have reportedly made it clear this will be the final bid. Though, the Qatari has previousl warned of a final bid before submitting another.
This time around, he has reportedly set this Friday as a deadline, with Sky Sports saying Jassim will ‘not engage’ with the process after this Friday. It’s not clear at this point what the offer is worth or whether it meets the Glazers’ £6billion valuation.
Latest INEOS bid
INEOS and Jim Ratcliffe’s last bid for United came in mid-May, and it offered the Glazers a higher price value.

Hide AdAccording to reports, the bid offered the Glazers the chance to keep 20% of the club, a proposal they may favour given their reluctance to give up all of their shares, with Jassim wanting full control. Naturally, INEOS would have control with 80%, but the Glazers would continue to be heavily invested at 20%.
It will be interesting to see whether INEOS now move to rival Jassim’s latest bid by making a fifth bid for United. The Glazers’ decision could come down to whether they want to stay at the club, even if the new Jassim bid is of larger value than what has been previously offered by INEOS.
