Manchester United duo Ona Battle and Leah Galton have been nominated for the award after the pair enjoyed outstanding seasons for Marc Skinner’s side.

Manchester City are also represented in the nominations with WSL top scorer Bunny Shaw one of the main favourites to lift the award after scoring a stunning 18 goals in just 20 league games for Gareth Taylor’s outfit.

The trio have been named alongside Chelsea pair Sam Kerr and Guro Reiten, Arsenal’s Frida Leonhardsen Maanum and Aston Villa’s Rachel Daly and Kirsty Hanson, the latter who is currently on loan from Manchester United.

Spanish full back Batlle in particular has been in outstanding form for the Red Devil’s this season, providing nine assists from defence and being a key player for Skinner’s side. Meanwhile, forward Leah Galton has topped United’s goalscoring charts this season with 10 goals alongside Alessia Russo as the team have secured UEFA Champions League qualification for the first time.

On the blue side of Manchester, Jamaican striker Shaw has been in the form of her life, scoring nearly 40% of her team’s goals despite the side slipping out of the chesired position of top three.

The nominations also make for interesting reading to United fans with confirmation that loan star Hanson was included in the eight player shortlist. The Scotland international has been with Red Devils since their formation in 2018 but was loaned to the Midlands club in the summer after struggling for game time in the previous campaign.

The winners will be announced at the end of the month.
