Manchester United’s season remains on hold as World Cup action continues in Qatar.

It has been an interesting few weeks for United, who have released Cristiano Ronaldo, while the Glazer family have also confirmed they are searching for a potential buyer. Meanwhile, Erik ten Hag will be searching for potential transfer targets ahead of the January transfer window, and he and his staff will be watching the World Cup to keep an eye on some of the players they like the look of.

Ahead of the January window rolling around, we have rounded up all the latest transfer news and rumours surrounding Old Trafford.

Frimpong update

United are said to be planning transfer talks with Bayer Leverkusen after the World Cup.

According to Sky Sports Germany, United like the look of Jeremie Frimpong, who is currently competing with Netherlands in Qatar. The report claims the Red Devils see Frimpong as an option to improve their right-back spot, which is lacking in depth. It’s no secret Ten Hag is not convinced by Aaron Wan-Bissaka, and it seems Frimpong could be a replacement.

The 21-year-old has been with Leverkusen since his 2021 move from Celtic, making 0 Bundesliga appearances since and scoring six times.

Fernandez blow

United are said to be interested in Argentine star Enzo Fernandez, but they are not going to be able to snap him up on the cheap.

Fernandez scored an excellent goal for Argentina against Mexico, and he has caught the eye early in his Benfica career, having only joined from River Plate earlier this year. The 21-year-old has drawn praise from Lionel Messi, among others, and United are said to be interested.

But according to The Express, Benfica aren’t going to allow Fernandez to leave for anything less than his £103million release clause, given they only recently signed him.
