Manchester United are in a better position right now. They have won two of their last three games, including a 2-0 win against Sunderland before the international break. Ruben Amorim’s side showed signs of improvement, easing the pressure on the Red Devils’ manager.
They play against Liverpool after the international break, which should be a tough game. However, the Reds have lost their last three games in all competitions and are looking disjointed under Arne Slot. Their biggest weakness seems to be in defence, and so Amorim will look to exploit that with some of his attacking talents.
Mason Mount was the star against Sunderland, and could be in line for a start again, but if he were to start, one of Bryan Mbeumo or Matheus Cunha would need to be benched in Amorim’s 3-4-3 formation. Instead, the United boss could decide to play a 4-2-3-1 formation. If he were to change formation, his starting XI against Liverpool could look seriously strong...

5. RB - Diogo Dalot
Dalot isn't a natural wing-back, he is more of a full-back, and so would benefit so much if Amorim decided to play four at the back, as it is his preferred role. | Manchester United via Getty Images

6. CM - Bruno Fernandes
This new system would still see Bruno playing in a deeper role in midfield, which isn't ideal. However, when you look at the attacking midfield options, it makes much more sense to play him deeper. | Getty Images

7. CM - Casemiro
Choosing between Casemiro, Kobbie Mainoo and Manuel Ugarte is tough as none of them have been great this year. The Brazilian played well against Sunderland, so he gets the start. | Manchester United via Getty Images

8. CAM - Matheus Cunha
Cunha was dropped against Sunderland in favour of Mason Mount, but with this 4-2-3-1 formation, they can both feature in Amorim's attack, which could spell trouble for Liverpool's shaky defence. | Manchester United via Getty Images
