Manchester United have announced their retained list with seven players leaving the club as their contracts expire.

It’s also been confirmed by the Red Devils that a solution has not been reached with David de Gea, even though ‘discussions remain open over a potential new contract’. The goalkeeper’s current deal is up at the end of month and he could still leave the club for free, although the Spaniard is expected to agree a new contract at Old Trafford.

Youngsters Rhys Bennett and Ethan Laird have signed on-year extensions, the club confirmed, while youth team player/coach Tom Huddlestone is expected to stay after discussions over a new contract. United confirmed an offer has been made to Mateo Mejia, but it doesn’t appear that the attacker has agreed terms at this stage.

It has also been announced that seven players will leave the club. Phil Jones’ 12-year stint as a United player will official end on 30 June, with the player already sending a heartfelt message to supporters as he departed.

Ethan Galbraith also took to social media last month to reveal he won’t be signing a new deal with the club, with Di’Shon Bernard in a similar boat. But United revealed that three more players are leaving, with youngsters Eric Hanbury, Charlie Wellens and Manni Norkett exiting.

The final departure is Axel Tuanzebe, a player who joined his boyhood club in 2006. The defender has been on the fringes of the first-team squad over recent years but joined Stoke City on loan in January and hasn’t played for United in over two years.
