Ethan Galbraith has confirmed he is set to depart Manchester United when his contract expires this summer.

ManchesterWorld exclusively revealed earlier this month that the Northern Ireland international was set to leave the club at the end of the season, and via an Instagram post on Tuesday, Galbraith announced his six-year association with the club has drawn to a close.

“After 6 years, my time has come to an end with this magnificent club @manchesterunited . I want to thank the club, coaching staff & players for helping me become a better player, a better person and for making me feel at home,” he wrote on Instagram.

“My earliest ambition as a boy was to become a professional footballer and I’m forever grateful to the club for giving me the opportunity and support to fulfill that dream. It’s been a privilege & I feel very fortunate to have been able to represent the club.

“I step into the next chapter of my career a more mature well rounded person and I’m excited for what’s next…”

ManchesterWorld understands there is early interest from Newcastle United, Sunderland, Stoke City and Derby County in signing the 21-year-old, but there are no offers at this early stage.

United could have triggered an option to extend Galbraith’s deal by a further 12 months but felt there was little chance of recouping a significant fee on the midfielder, while his wages would have also risen.

Galbraith, who spent this season on loan at Salford City, has made one senior appearance for United when he played against Astana in the Europa League during Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’ time as manager.
