Manchester United are reportedly interested in Napoli star Victor Osimhen - but have ‘made it clear’ they are not willing to pay over the odds to take the striker to Old Trafford.

Red Devils manager Erik ten Hag is said to be considering a move for the Nigeria international as he looks to fill the void left by Cristiano Ronaldo’s recent departure. Osimhen has made a big impact since joining the Serie A club in a £60m deal in September 2020 and has gone on to score 38 goals and provide 12 assists in just 76 appearances over the last two years.

That has led to interest from a whole host of clubs around Europe and there were reports Newcastle United had an £85m bid rejected during the summer transfer window as they looked to strengthen their options in the attacking third. However, the most recent reports have suggested Man Utd have made the striker ‘one of their top targets’.

Sky Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg tweeted an update on United’s reported interest in the striker. He said: “As reported he‘s (Osimhen) one of the top targets. But been told that #MUFC doesn’t want to pay a crazy price around €100m. Bosses say: He is ready for the Premier League! What they appreciate about him: Speed, physicality. He’s a finisher!”

Red Devils star opens up on Ronaldo departure

Marcus Rashford has thanked Cristiano Ronaldo for ‘the things he’s done for Manchester United’ less than a week after the Portuguese star’s departure was confirmed.

Ronaldo and Rashford couldn’t hold in their despair as they were left frustrated by a resillient Villa defence. The pair were shut out all afternoon.Ronaldo and Rashford couldn’t hold in their despair as they were left frustrated by a resillient Villa defence. The pair were shut out all afternoon.

Rashford is currently on England duty at the World Cup Finals and scored his first goal at the tournament in last Monday’s 6-2 win against Iran. He appeared as a substitute in the goalless draw with the United States and will hope to get more game-time when Gareth Southgate’s side face Wales in their final group stage game on Tuesday.

Rashford faced the media on Sunday and was asked about his time playing alongside Ronaldo.

He said: “It has been an unbelievable experience to play with him. He is one of my idols and someone I always looked up to. It is something I can keep with me forever, I wish him all the best and we want to thank him for the things he’s done for Manchester United.”
