Manchester United will already be looking ahead of the January transfer window as they wait for the return of club football.

The Red Devils are in the midst of a month on the sidelines as action plays out in Qatar, but the time off will give the United transfer chiefs extra time to plan for the January window. And the window has just become even more important following the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo, who left the club by mutual consent following his controversial interview with Piers Morgan.

As the fallout from the Ronaldo situation continues, we have rounded up all the latest transfer news and rumours surrounding Old Trafford.

David claims

United are being linked with a move for Lille star Jonathan David as they look to replace Ronaldo in the front line.

David has been linked with a number of clubs over the last year or so, including the likes of Arsenal, and Florian Plettenberg has claimed he is a candidate for United.

He tweeted: “News #David: Another candidate of #MUFC is the 22 y/o Canadian striker. He was scouted several times and he wants to make the next step. We‘ve been told that Lille would release him in winter for around €50m transfer fee.”

United continue to be linked with a move for former star Memphis Depay, who is looking increasingly likely to leave Barcelona this summer.

Memphis has only been with Barca for around a year and a half, but it seems he could be on his way, and according to Plettengberg, who also reported the David news, Erik ten Hag is keen on taking the Dutchman back to Old Trafford.

It’s claimed Barcelona could even seek to terminate Memphis’ contract in order to save on his wages and secure his exit, meaning he could be available on a free transfer.
