We are now in the final 24 hours of the January transfer window and it’s unclear if we will see anymore major incomings or outgoings at Old Trafford.

Manchester United’s business this January has been all loan moves with Jack Butland and Wout Weghorst joining from Crystal Palace and Burnley respectively while Shola Shoretire, Charlie Savage and Ondrej Mastny have all left on short term deals. There may yet be a few more players heading out on loan with the most recent headlines suggesting one player has interest from no less than 10 clubs.

Meanwhile, a Serie A side are said to have made a loan move for one of the biggest stars at the club but that move doesn’t look likely. Here are the early Manchester United transfer news stories on Deadline Day.

Harry Maguire rejects loan offer from Inter Milan

According to the Daily Star, Harry Maguire has rejected a loan offer from Inter Milan and has chosen to stay and fight for his place at United. However, the player will leave at the end of the season if nothing changes in the second half of the campaign.

It is claimed that the Serie A side are one of several clubs interested in the England international and has started just one Premier League game for the Red Devils in 2023. Despite that, it is also claimed that Erik ten Hag is keen to keep the 29-year old in his squad to ensure competition for places in defence.

United receive ‘10 loan offers’ for Elanga

As per a report from FourFourTwo, United have received 10 loan offers for promising winger Anthony Elanga. The Swede is said to be frustrated at his lack of regular game time but Erik ten Hag is understood to be keen to keep the 20-year old at Old Trafford as cover.

PSV Eindhoven, managed by United legend Ruud van Nistelrooy, are the only club named by the report among the 10 interested parties. However, Premier League rivals Everton have previously been linked with a move this month but talk over interest from Goodison Park appears to have cooled.
