United are reportedly ‘ready’ to make an improved bid for Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount as they look to lure the 24-year-old to the North West this summer to bolster their ranks, as per a report by The Mirror. He has been linked with the Red Devils for a while now as Ten Hag prepares for his second term in charge in England.

Mount has been on the books at Stamford Bridge for his whole career and has risen up through the youth ranks of the Blues. He had early loan spells at Vitesse and Derby County to gain experience before breaking into their first-team and has since become a key player for the London club but his long-term future is up in the air right now.

Goalkeeper update

The club remain in ‘discussions’ over a new deal for goalkeeper David de Gea, as detailed on their official club website. It remains to be seen whether the experienced stopper, who is a Spain international, will be sticking around for next season with his contract expiring soon.

The 32-year-old was brought to England as Edwin van der Sar’s replacement back in 2011 from Atletico Madrid and has since played 545 games. United have published their retained list and have cut ties with Axel Tuanzebe, Phil Jones, Ethan Galbraith and Di’Shon Bernard, as well as youngsters Eric Hanbury, Charlie Wellens and Manni Norkett.
