With Mason Mount now settling in at Old Trafford, Manchester United will be feeling positive about the way their transfer window is going so far. There’s still a lot to do though, especially as quite a few big name players are expected to leave, or have already left this summer.

Erik ten Hag is looking to strengthen multiple areas of his team this window. A marquee midfielder has already arrived but David De Gea’s departure means defence is a concern, but the Dutchman also has his eye on new attacking options too. Here’s a look at some of the latest headlines for United as they plot their next moves.

Reds ’preparing new bid’ for 16-goal striker

Rasmus Højlund has appeared on Ten Hag’s radar and it seems the club do not want to leave without snagging his signature. According to Nicolò Schira, the Red Devils are moving quickly to launch a second bid for the Denmark international after Atalanta rejected their original €40 million (£34m) offer.

Højlund’s agency have reportedly already reached an agreement in principle with United over a five-year deal, but Atalanta are looking for closer to the €60 million (£51.5m) mark before they consider cashing in. The 20-year-old contributed 16 goals and seven assists across all competitions last season.

Out-of-favour defender attracting interest

It seems something of a defensive reshuffle is on the cards at Old Trafford and that starts with trimming the fat currently on the roster. Eric Bailly has been out of favour at United for some time now and this summer could be his time to move onto pastures new.

With just one year left on his current contract, the Red Devils are hoping to offload the 29-year-old, although a sale now wouldn’t exactly recoup much of the £30 million spent on him seven years ago. The Premier League giants are apparently willing to accept just £2 million for Bailly.

The injury-prone defender has been on the radar of Real Betis for some time now, but according to Diario AS, the interest has grown as they are looking to sign at least two new defenders this summer to replace Víctor Ruiz and Edgar González.
