Man Utd predicted XI to face Omonia Nicosia - Erik ten Hag tipped to make six changes

The Manchester United manager said he wouldn’t rotate his squad, but this looks an ideal match to make alterations.

Erik ten Hag could make several changes to his Manchester United team for Thursday’s Europa League match against Omonia Nicosia, despite claiming he plans to go ‘all out for victory’ in the group-stage encounter.

Asked how he would approach the game, the United manager said in his pre-match conference: “All out for the victory. The first game [in the schedule] is always the most important. It is Europe, it is tough. You want to be number one in the group so we have to win that game,” he added, implying United won’t rest players.

“In all the positions we have double [options]. Injuries and suspensions will be there and you have to deal with it as a squad. All the players have to have their game time managed. If we have to rotate if we have injuries then we can replace players.”

However, Ten Hag will have to make at least one change from Sunday’s win over Everton, with Anthony Martial missing through injury. He was one of five players not spotted in Wednesday’s training session, along with Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Harry Maguire and Donny van de Beek.

The final absentee was Raphael Varane, with the Frenchman not training with the group at present as he builds up his fitness following a recent injury. The defender did come on for the latter stages of Sunday’s trip to Goodison but isn’t expected to be involved at Old Trafford in midweek.

Since United returned from the international break, six players - David de Gea, Diogo Dalot, Lisandro Martinez, Christian Eriksen, Bruno Fernandes and Antony - have started all three matches, and with Omonia representing a relatively kind opponent, United may opt to rotate some of those players.

Here’s how we think they’ll line up, including six potential changes from the weekend...
