Twenty-four players were spotted at Manchester United training on Wednesday ahead of the club’s Europa League clash against Omonia Nicosia.

The Red Devils beat the Cypriot side 3-2 last week and will hope for a slightly easier task when the same opposition travel to Old Trafford this Thursday. A win for United would be a big step forward in their aims of making it to the Europa League knockstages, with the club picking up six points from the opening three matches.

But Erik ten Hag confirmed in his pre-match press conference that United will be without Harry Maguire, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Donny van de Beek and Anthony Martial for the fourth game of the group. “Not today [Martial won’t train], we will see how he develops to Sunday,” he told reporters. “Harry Maguire is out. Longer-term, Donny van de Beek and Aaron Wan-Bissaka, they’re not in the squad.”

However, another player missing from Wednesday’s session was Raphael Varane. The defender picked up an injury in the recent Manchester derby and missed the trip to Cyprus last week, while he was only fit enough to start on the bench against Everton at the weekend.

His absence from training puts the French international’s availability for Thursday’s game into doubt, with Varane currently undergoing an individual training schedule until he fully returns to fitness. It leaves Ten Hag with potentially just two fit, senior centre-backs in Victor Lindelof and Lisandro Martinez for the clash with Omonia. That’s why, presumably, young defender Rhys Bennet was involved in the latest training session.

In total, United had 25 players training on Wednesday, although one player - a youth-team goalkeeper - wasn’t identifiable due to the distance between journalists and the players during the session. Among those visible were youngsters Zidane Iqbal, Alejandro Garnacho, Shola Shoretire and Facundo Pellistri. Below are the 24 players ManchesterWorld spotted at Carrington.
